DIRMAP Files

DIRMAP files contain:

DIRMAP files can reside in server root domains and in user pages. When serving data from a minidisk, SFS directory, or using CMS search order, a DIRMAP file is a file with the filetype DIRMAP. When serving data from a BFS directory, a DIRMAP file is a file with the extension .DIRMAP (the extension must be in uppercase).

The following indicates whether DIRMAP files are required based on the location of a server root domain or user page:

Location DIRMAP File
Minidisk Required
SFS directory Optional
BFS directory Optional
CMS Search Order* Required
* Only a server root domain can use CMS search

When serving files from a minidisk or using CMS search order, VM:Webgateway serves only files identified on directory control records in a DIRMAP file. When serving files from an SFS or BFS directory, VM:Webgateway serves all files it can gain access to whether the file is specified in a DIRMAP file or not. To prevent VM:Webgateway from serving files on an SFS or BFS directory:

  • Use access control records to limit who can receive files
  • Set the SFS authorizations or BFS permissions to prohibit VM:Webgateway from reading the files you do not want to serve

You can set up DIRMAP files to:
