Need:
  1. Eye protection,
  2. Fire extinguisher,
  3. Screw driver to open Lorain,
  4. Wrench to connect battery lead,
  5. Spare fuses.


  1. Check for mechanical problems such as fallen objects, damage, etc. around switch and P.BDs.

  2. Remove Charles jumper cable from fuse positions 4 & 5 on the back of P.BD.2.

  3. Verify REG fuse is out (left fuse, top of P.BD.2).

  4. Verify all load fuses are out on P.BD.2 and P.BD.3.

  5. Verify AC breaker CB1 (exposed) is off on Lorain rectifier in P.BD.3.

  6. Verify DC Output breaker CB2 is off (under cover) of the Lorain

  7. Remove F1 ALM fuse under cover.

    Caution: always wear eye protection when working around exposed terminals and battery strings.

  8. Touch negative lead to (-) post of battery "24". There will be a spark.

  9. Connect negative lead to battery post.

  10. Turn on CB2, it will trip while charging capacitors. Turn it on again.

  11. Reinsert F1 fuse. Close cover.

  12. Turn on CB1. Amps will go to about 50.

  13. Set Lorian to EQ for 24 hours, then to FLT. Tell somebody who will be around then.

    Power Plant is now ready for service, Proceeding to No. 3 power up

  14. Locate fuses on bottom of P.BD.1 (ringing plant frame) arranged as follows at far left bottom:

    	Fuse	Amps	Note
    	41	½A	Fuse Alarm
    	45	3A	
    	1	½A	Fuse Alarm
    	5	3A	
    	

  15. Remove fuses 1 & 41 then 5 & 45.

  16. Insert 100A fuses fast into P.BD.3 'M00 LDA' and 'M00 LDB'.

  17. Insert 30A fuse fast into P.BD.2 as fuse 3 '#3XB-MISC-ABS' (Alarm Battery Supply).

  18. Insert 15A fuse fast into P.BD.2 as fuse 1 'RTA'.

  19. Insert 15A fuse fast into P.BD.2 as fuse 2 'RTB'.

  20. Verify 'PWR OFF 2' is off on P.BD.1 Ring & Tone Plant (only MON1 lights s/b on).

  21. Insert 3A fuses 5 and 45 first ...

  22. Insert ½A alarm fuses 1 and 41. There should now be ringing voltage.

  23. Omit 130V supplies.

  24. Check for smoke, odors and alarms in the #3 room.

    NVA (No Voltage Alarm) may require ACO button push next to large red NVA lamp half way down back aisle (on left).

  25. Check all bays for blown fuses. Replace as needed.

  26. Place test call(s) through #3XB switch.

    No. 3 Crossbar Bradford Exchange now running, Proceeding to main building exhibits

  27. Locate -130V DIST plate in RR 102.09 in SXS area.

  28. Remove fuse 3 for -48V G5

  29. Turn off G5

  30. Insert 30A into P.BD.2 as fuse 4 'SXS Demonstrator'.

  31. Verify SXS Demonstrator has power.

  32. Insert 15A into P.BD.2 as fuse 5 (701 RM, needed for 740).

  33. Omit P.BD.2 fuse 6 (701 TEMP).

  34. Place test call(s) through 740.

  35. Return tools.

  36. If Frenchboro is running, go to Frenchboro and push in first/left two Proctor E&M cards on the lower shelf of the toll bay.

  37. Call Frenchboro number (i.e. 334-9980) from Bradford number to confirm operation.

  38. Inform 'Engineering' of operational statuses.
