Paul and Gene

Paul: We're really fortunate.

Gene: Paul and I can't get no closer. We were already this close before we found out we have AIDS. We have a man-to-man relationship. I will talk to him and tell him things because he's a man. A man knows what a man wants and likes.

Paul: I can't imagine life without him. I am lucky to have him.

Gene: We have good times, good memories. They can't take them away from you. Your house can burn, your pictures can go with them, but your memories are there.

Paul: Especially now, a lot of material things we look at, they're nice to have, but they don't have the meaning they used to have. We've sent people home with carloads.

Gene: I might not feel good, but I look around at people that are worse off than I am.

Paul: We are lucky. We count our blessings.
