Research InterestsDirected research projects with students have led to convention papers and refereed journal publications.
Individual and group student internships, most notably at the Maine State Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Maine State Game Warden Service, have proven newsworthy and have generated convention presentations at professional conventions.
My research interests are in the area of Organizational Communication. I generally take a systems theoretical approach drawing on traditional "open systems" theory and the so-called "new sciences" approaches of neural network analysis, self-organizing systems theory, and chaotic and complex systems analysis. I am most interested in issues of group formation, decision making, problem solving, conflict management, the formation of teams, the development of a sense of community; and the influences of organizational communication technologies upon these processes.Books:Scholarship
