Innovative guitarist Robert Fripp has gotten back together with some old buddies and released another King Crimson album. This certainly isn't any sappy reunion album done only because they need the money. Fripp's been a cutting-edge sort of guy since well before most people even knew there was an edge that could be cut. While there is certainly some small resemblance to the King Crimson of the late 60s and onwards, the music here has a certain lean-ness to it. It eschews the pomposity of some of their great 70s recordings for a stripped-down, but not lite, sound. This version of King Crimson is sort of like the always overweight person who drops 50 or more pounds - there's something familiar there, but you have to look for a while to find those familiar features.
