Clouds Taste Metallic - The Flaming Lips

(Warner Brothers CD 45911-2, Copyright 1995, Time: 47:37)

Producer: The Flaming Lips and Dave Dridmann, Engineer: Dave Fridmann, Tracks: The Abandoned Hospital Ship; Psychiatric Explorations of the Fetus With Needles; Placebo Headwound; This Here Giraffe; Brainville; Guy Who Got a Headache and Accidentally Saves the World; When You Smile; Kim's Watermelon Gun; They Punctured My Yolk; Lightning Strikes the Postman; Christmas At the Zoo; Evil Will Prevail; Bad Days (aurally excited version)

Flaming Lips' latest doesn't have a "She Don't Use Jelly" on it, but it does have "Bad Days", which could, maybe, become the distraught-postal-workers theme song. There's plenty of distortion and noise to go around. There aren't any new directions, really, on this album. But then, the rest of the world really hasn't caught up to what the Flaming Lips have been doing, anyway. "Guy Who Got a Headache and Accidentally Saved the World" makes an excellent impression as well.
