Rock 'n roll cello has been the almost exclusive property of Jane Scarpantoni (who has played with countless folks in the last five years or so). Gideon Freudmann is nipping at her heels, though definitely from a singer/songwriter (but not really folk) perspective. The music on this album has more to do with the type of thing that rockers have done (Kevn Kinney of Drivin' & Cryin', REM, Snatches of Pink/Michael Rank, the Death Folk, etc.) in the acoustic realm than most true folk artists. Don't be alarmed by that big wooden instrument in the picture on the back cover! This is a damn good album!
