Taken as literature, the Bible has many interesting and compelling stories. Even a brief exposure to Soul Junk is enough to show that this album is in no way one of those wimpy, over-produced, hackneyed christian-rock albums. Had Kurt Cobain come up with the idea of using Bible verse as a lyrical foundation for Nirvana's latest grunge explorations he'd probably be hailed as a genius (whilst being reviled by many a christian civic league - he certainly would have identified with the lyric "I have been crucified"). Don't let the spiritual aspects of this album deter you from hearing it. Soul Junk was started as a solo thing by ex-Truman's Water member Glen Galloway. He released two solo albums, numerous 7" recordings on various labels and now has a band together (Ron Easterbrooks - guitar, vocals, trumpet, moog, trombone, bass, drums, Brian Cantrell - drums, percussion, trombone, moog, Jon Galloway - bass, Glen Galloway - guitar, vocals, drums, sax, keys, bass, harp, banjo) for this third full-length recording.
